- Understand accessorial charges: identify and prioritize additional fees.
- Calculate dimensional weight: formulas, examples and packaging decisions.
- Review contract compliance: compare invoices with the agreement.

Choose a guide for your next shipping decision
Start with the question your team needs to resolve. Procurement needs comparable carrier proposals; finance needs a defensible cost baseline; operations needs to understand the shipments and charges behind the invoice. These guides connect the analysis to a practical next step.
Are we being billed correctly?
Use the UPS and FedEx parcel invoice audit checklist to assemble evidence, check seven billing categories and follow a discrepancy through to a verified credit. Keep potential findings separate from money actually recovered.
What will the next rate increase cost us?
The FedEx 2027 rate-increase guide distinguishes the published average from your shipment-level exposure. It includes effective-date checks, modeling steps and an illustrative cost breakdown.
Did the new agreement deliver savings?
Learn how to measure parcel contract savings using the same shipment file, the agreed baseline and verified billed costs. The worked examples separate transportation discounts, total carrier cost and net benefit after fees.
Which carrier allocation fits our operation?
Our carrier comparison guide helps you evaluate coverage, delivery requirements, operating work and incentive-tier effects before expanding a pilot.
Why did a discounted shipment still cost more than expected?
Start with the billed shipment, not the headline discount. Separate transportation, minimum-charge adjustments, fuel and accessorial fees. Then compare the applicable carrier rules and your agreement on the shipment date. A useful review keeps the package ID, ship date, service, destination ZIP, billed weight and charge codes together so operations, procurement and finance can trace the same example.
- Check location and address charges. Delivery-area and residential fees answer different questions and can both appear on a package. Our delivery-area versus residential guide shows what to validate before challenging a charge or modeling a route change.
- Check the discount floor. A negotiated percentage can look attractive while a minimum charge limits its effect on lighter or lower-rated shipments. Use the parcel minimum-charge guide to compare proposal options at shipment level.
- Check what actually changed. Group the affected shipments by service, destination, package characteristics and date. Reprice a representative file under the relevant terms, then compare the result with paid invoices. The invoice audit checklist helps document discrepancies and verify any credit.
Record modeled opportunities separately from credits received or recurring savings. For an annual parcel program above $1 million, a shipment-level review can show which contract terms or operating changes deserve attention before the next carrier discussion.
For businesses with $1 million or more in annual parcel spend, request an assessment to discuss the costs and decisions that matter to your operation.
